This month the Writing Center is celebrating Brandi Hatter, a cheerful freshman who recently graduated from high school. Brandi is a frequent visitor of the Writing Center because “it is a friendly, helpful place where they teach you and don’t do the work for you.” Outside of English class, Brandi uses writing to pursue scholarship essays and to email her current instructors as well as future instructors and coach at Montevello University, where she will be transferring in the fall and running track. She is also a big fan of social media and uses writing daily to keep up with life on Facebook and through emailing friends.

We want to introduce you to Abou. His English 101 teacher gave him the highest praise, saying he was a hard worker and his most improved writer. We wholeheartedly agree. We’ve loved getting to spend time with him as he refines his writing skills and then applies what he has learned to future writing assignments. He might seem quiet when you first meet him, but don’t be surprised when he makes you laugh—often!

We want to introduce you to Charles. He first came to the WC several months ago to get help with English 100. Although he was nervous on his first visit, he realized this is a place with people who really want to help him and who make him feel positive about himself. His favorite thing about the Writing Center is that it helps him make good grades.
